Wallis and Steevens ex cricket pitch roller
I recently purchased this Wallis and Steevens Advance roller from a local cricket club. It had obviously been used previously by a local road contractor and, judging by the various layers of paint, probably prior to that by other similar operators. Although it was reputed to be a runner it was not in very good condition and, although dry stored, appeared to be very short of any sensible maintenance. It was said to be constructed in the late 1960’s and had a two cylinder Ruston engine. It ran very badly and it will obviously be some time before it is returned to anything like decent running order, however it gives me something to do if this lockdown continues!
